    Protein Summary

    Pfam update: Built as DUF4876, PF16215. The members are proposed lipoproteins. In two cases the duf is associated with the BACON domain - Bacteroidetes-Associated Carbohydrate-binding Often N-terminal.

    This protein, BT_1938, is a putative lipoprotein. The structure reveals a 2 domain protein:


    This structure is the first reperestnation of PF16215 family (DUF4876).  Structure similarity search for each domain by FATCAT  and DALI found that N- terminus domain has Ig- beta-sandwich fold, and C- terminus domain has a lamin- like fold with many loops. 

    A structural superposition of N-terminus domain (blue) with 1oww (cyan), which  has a human fibronectin type III domain, is shown below.  A structural  superposition of  C-terminus domain (dark pink) and  the top Dali hit- 3gef (gold), which is human lamin A/C ( Dali Z- score  7.3, rmsd 2.2, 10% seq. id). 





    Genomic content  shows that this protein expressed in the operon next to SusC-like protein (which has ~100 residues short length than “classic” SusC)
