This corresponds to the n-terminal FHA domain of the CEP170 protein, which is part of centrosome. The structure indicates that CEP170-FHA lacks the canonical pThr recognition site, thus unlikely to involved in signaling by binding pThr containing peptide. Instead, it may play a role in protein-protein recognition.
The CEP-FHA domain forms a helical filament in the unit cell, but its biological relevance is not clear. We can not rule out that it could be an artifact of crystal packing, that may or may not have physiological relevance.
