    Gene BH3568 from Bacillus halodurans encodes the NP_244435 protein with sequence similarity to members of the UPF0052 (PF01933) and very remote similarity to the ubiquitin activating enzyme repeat 1-like group (cd01485). A Blast search classifies NP_244435 inside the CofD superfamily and hits with an e-val=2e-104 and 60% seq. id. the putative diguanylate cyclase ZP_02171651. Genome context analysis indicates a putative functional link with the UPF0042 protein BH3569 (score 0.97). The known protein located in similar genomic context is UvrC (UVRC_CACHD) (score 0.73).

    2o2z belongs to the SCOP alpha/beta class, CofD-like fold and (super)family. A DALI search provides significant hits with other UPF0052 structures like 2hzb, 2ppv, 2q7x, and 3cgw (Z=24; 20% seq.id.), a 2-phospho-L-lactate transferase ( [Ref] ). A molecule of NAD per chain is found in the 2o2z crystal structure interacting with residues T13, N217, M219, Y264, R300, H301.
