    Protein Summary

The TM0021 gene of Thermotoga maritima encodes a protein from the DUF190 group (PF02641; COG:COG1993) related to the nitrogen regulatory protein P-II (PFAM:PF00543; PMID:14997579, 16484197). The primary function of the PII family is to regulate the function of proteins involved in nitrogen metabolism in response to the carbon-nitrogen balance in the cell. Genome context analysis indicates a strong functional link (score 0.97) between TM0021 and TM0020, a crcB homolog.

    The TM0021 structure, 1o51, has a ferredoxin-like fold (SCOP sunid:54861) and belongs tothe GlnB-like superfamily, DUF190 family (SCOP sunid:54913). DALI hits are with the UPF0166 protein PH1503 PDB:2dcl (Z=16), the hypothetical protein TTHA0516 PDB:2cz4 (Z=11) and the P-II like signaling protein PDB:3dfe (Z=11).
