Gene TM0613 from Thermotoga maritima encodes the NP_228423 protein that contains a putative nucleotide-binding domain (HEPN) (COG2250; smart00748; Pfam05168) present in several bacterial drug resistance and human proteins involved in neurodegenerative processes (PubMed: 12765831, 14997578).
It is unknown if TM0613 phylogenetic cooccurrence (detected using string.embl.de server) with TM0841 (S-layer-like array protein; reviewed in PubMed: 10648507) and TM1652 is significant enough to implicate functional interdependence between those proteins.
TM0613 structure, 1o3u, has a up-and-down four-helical bundle fold (SCOP sunid: 47161) and belongs to the SCOP family of HEPN domains (probable bi-partite nucleotidyltransferase subunit; SCOP sunid 89022). TM0613 predicted partner is a putative catalytic subunit encoded by TM0614. DALI top hits are with the TT1696 protein PDB:1ufb (Z=18), the AF0298 protein PDB:2hsb (Z=15) and the CO2003 protein PDB:2q00 (Z=11).
