    The TM0293 gene of Thermotoga maritima encodes gamma-glutamyl phosphate reductase (GPR; EC 1.2.1.41), an enzyme that catalyzes the second step of proline biosynthesis, the reversible nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH)-dependent reduction of L-glutamyl phosphate to phosphate and L-glutamate 5-semialdehyde (PubMed:14705032).

    Protein encoded by TM0293 gene has ALDH-like fold (SCOP sunid:53719) with two similar domains (each with 3 layers a/b/a sandwich) with parallel beta-sheet of 5 strands (order 32145).
